Poppy's publishes second B Corp impact report

Poppy's has published its second B Corp impact report, which celebrates what we've achieved so far and sets out our focus for the year ahead

Poppy's first received B Corp accreditation in February 2024. An accredited B Corp is a business that seeks to be a force for good in the world. It involves taking measurable actions to reduce environmental impact, taking great care of people, supporting local communities and much, much more.

At Poppy’s this includes paying our people above the London Living Wage, offering our clients more sustainable funeral options and continually working to reduce our own operational waste and energy use.

In order to become an accredited B Corp, a business must meet a very high set of social and environmental standards, transparency and legal accountability. All B Corps are assessed on how they create benefit for workers, their community, the environment and customers.

There are now over 2,600 B Corps (short for ‘benefit corporation’) across the UK. Just one example of the impact B Corps are having for people and planet; together, UK B Corps have saved over 20 billion litres of water since 2022.

B Corp certification is hard to achieve - if you don't meet their very high standards, you don't become a B Corp. After three years, you have to apply to recertify; Poppy's will be applying for recertification in 2026.

Poppy's is proud to be the only B Corp funeral director in London, and this year's impact report sets out the ambitious plans we have to not only maintain our B Corp status when we recertify, but to achieve more against our goals. It also celebrates the fact that in 2025 we looked after more people than ever before.
